Joaquin Capa's work has the elegance and passion of the great Abstract Expressionists. Color, form and rhythm are masterfully handled in works of richness and complexity. This richness is of the world and of the artist who has traveled widely, and studied intensively.
The intensity of Capa's personality is apparent in his work, and yet it is not displayed by a casual use of technical bravura. Though technically brilliant, Capa's work is always subtle, ever bowing to the imperfection of the human understanding. In this way, Capa’s work
Reveals a thoughtful sensibility about a world full of hope, but one, which has been tinged with sadness.
Capa is widely regarded as one of Spain’s most important contemporary abstract artists: his work is represented in the permanent collections of many major museums in North America and Europe. The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Louvre, Paris, Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, George Pompidou Centre, Paris, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, National Museum, Prague, Museum of Contemporary Spanish Art, Madrid, Kunsthaus, Zurich, to mention a few.
