13-year-old prodigy artist Julia Socala, a resident of Tarzana, California, has been painting and drawing "ever since I can remember". At age 5 she won an art contest and her work was displayed on billboards throughout Los Angeles. Now at 13, her paintings sell for up to $20,000 apiece and are in private and corporate collections in the U.S.A. and abroad. Crowds flock to her exhibits to meet the young artist, admire her vibrant oil paintings and listen to her play the piano, pieces from Chopin and Mozart to Andrea Bocelli and the Beatles. "I paint because I love it," says Julia. "Each painting has my own private story behind it, but I don't mind if other people create their own stories. I don't have an artistic statement. I couldn't care less if Gauguin or Monet had one. I just love their art, and I love to paint."
