Sure.
Use a matboard to seperate the cell from the acrylic, and you just may want to remove/reduce static from the acrylic and cell. Kinetronics sell an "anti-static whisk" which is very handy for this.

Or use Museum Optium Acrylic, which is abrasion-resistant, optically-coated, nearly invisible, and carries no static charge.
