Can someone clarify when sales tax is charged on replacing broken glass and fitting into a customer owned frame. I live in California, and while someone in the tax board office tried to explain taxing some labor charges, it is still not clear to me. A new customer thinks he should not be charged for the labor part of fitting...but all jobs are mixed labor and parts...speaking of auto mechanics....

The first recommenbdation would be to consult your local and state taxing authorities. If you can''t decipher their answersw, then ask more questions.
The second recommendation would be to consult a CPA or professiopnal bookkeeper in your jurisdiction. They generally know the applicable laws.
