Most framers use fabric adhesives, available from many framing suppliers.
I prefer to use acrylic liquid medium or, if the fabric has a coarse weave and heavy texture, acrylic gel medium.
Acrylic medium is chemically-stable and generally suitable for use within a preservation framing enclosure. It remains water-soluble until dry, and tools clean up with water.
Acrylic medium also may be used as a heat activated adhesive. That is, paint it onto one or both surfaces, let it dry, then activate the bond using an iron, or put in a heated mounting press.
Acrylic medium products are available from most art supply stores.
